Next week Maelyn's school is going snorkelng on Tuesday and Friday they go to the beach for the day. Awesomeness!
This campus used to be a resort so it has a holiday feel to it. All the meals are served cafeteria style and the tables are outside. Food is delicious and plentiful! No bugs so it's so nice to eat outside. Palm trees are everywhere and gorgeous flowering trees. The playground is right outside our front door and the food court is in our backyard. Maelyn's school is just a few steps from our apartment. Like I said earlier there is a cafe that serves all the fancy drinks. A library that has free movies, free internet access. The in ground pool is just around the corner. It is having work done on it so we can't use it for a week. Our classroom is held under a canopy overlooking the ocean. Beautiful backdrop...palm trees, cruise ship in ocean, gorgeous flowers, nice breeze. The staff really decorated the tent up nice with palm branches and strung those white xmas lights all around.
The campus is set on the side of the hill facing the ocean. The mountain is behind us. There is 50 students just in our class. 15 staff leaders for our class. Awesome staff people. Worship is amazing here! I love our apartment. Big new fridge, new microwave, bathroom with shower, kitchen has big island type countertop with more cupboard space than I can use. Queensize bed. Maelyn has her own bed too that folds up. Night tables and dressers. Kitchen table and chairs if we want to eat in. Ceramic floors throughout. We wake up to the sweetest birds singing. We think we will walk over to the ocean today. It's supposed to be next to a touristy street called Ali Drive where all the shops are. Oh yea, there's even this free store here where people leave behind their stuff for the next people. We picked up more pillows and coffee mugs, etc. Anyway, it's going to be an awesome three months here. Maelyn and I keep pinching each other to see if it's real. There is a course for Koreans here so there are so many Asian people. The Korean women are so beautiful looking. Gotta go Maelyn wants to go to the playground. Aloha for now!

Wow,What a Show!

We just got back from the show. It was like being at the opening ceremonies of the olympics. People from over 35 countries walked in with flags from their countries. The performances lasted for two hours. Youth with a Mission has their own hula dancers that perform on the islands so they put on an amazing show. There was an awesome show done by the fire dancers who had batons of fire, there was a hip hop rap group and a breakdancer, a team of performers from Samou did a number, an asian number and a group that is performing at the highschools on the islands. It was a feast for the eyes. We ended up sitting in front of Lorne and Darlene Cunningham and their family. For those of you who haven't heard of them they are the founders of Youth with a Mission. They started this 46 years ago and are in their 70's.
Darlene's mom is in her 90's. She was behind us too. The thing that amazed me the most is this family has seen these shows a million times during their lifespan but they all acted like they were seeing it for the first time. It was an honour to over hear their comments throughout the evening. Of course Mike had to go up to Lorne after the show and shake his hand and tell him he read book 20 years ago. Too cute! Well, it's been an exciting first day in Hawaii. We truly are blessed to be here to experience this. This is my second post for the day. The first one is below this. Good night to everyone back in Canada. I feel like I have been around the world tonight. Red and yellow, black and white we are precious in His sight!

Aloha from hot Hawaii

We made it here fine. We are really tired today. There is a big show tonight welcoming all the nations. Should be fire dancers and all that stuff. It so hot and humid. Our class is outside and overlooks the ocean. Absolutely beautiful! Our apartment has been recently renovated and is all new. I love having all our meals made for us. There are students from all over the world. Really friendly people. There was a basket with goodies in our room waiting for us with a nice welcome note. There is always a nice breeze because of the ocean. There is a cafe on campus we tried today with awesome Kona coffee. We went to Walmart this afternoon and picked up some stuff. Looks like a nice town. Well I should go we want front row seats for the show. Love to everyone!

my slide show
This post was actually put up by my talented wonderful son. Who is 26, 5'11", blonde with blue eyes and is actually typing this aswell. If this is ridiculous looking and poorly written thats why. Thank you again to all those friends and family that have shown your love and support to my parents and sister. I am very proud of both my mom and dad for what they are doing. The truly are the people I admire most in the world especially for their faith in Jesus and hunger to know Him more.
