Going to a Lu'au

I'm so excited because we are going to a real Lu'au this Saturday night! Normally they cost more than $200.00 and there is a waiting list but we are having one on campus for $25.00 There will be a Hawaiian feast for the meal; pig roast kinda thing. We eat while the show is on. Maelyn can hardly wait. She loves the fire throwers. Mike went with a team of people up the mountain last night. Fifteen years ago a couple from a local church started providing a meal once a month for struggling locals. Ywam helps with it by taking food. On this island there are forty 20 million dollar mansions. Bill Gates and Mr.Dell of Dell computers to name a few have homes here. Alot of people are retiring here because the weather is always the same all year. Always 85 degrees during the day and 77 at night. Real estate has skyrocketed because of the demand. It has made it really hard for locals because they can't afford to rent or buy houses. Their wage hasn't gone up. They still only make minimum wage. It kinda reminds me of Collingwood with Intrawest. Anyway, because of all this there is a high crystal meth addiction and teenage pregnancy rate. Plus homeless people come here because you might as well be homeless in paradise. So, as you can see there is a need to help hurting people here. Mike and the others were so blessed serving and eating with these precious locals. The teaching continues to be awesome. Enrollment is the highest it's ever been here. Ninety students had to move to the north of the island because we are out of room. That's with new dorms and classrooms just built too. Maelyn lives in the pool when she's not at the playground. Mike and I have the privilege of participating in prayers with the Koreans over North Korea. Boy, can they intercede! They are a precious people. It's been great for Maelyn to live amongst people that look like her. Now we know how she feels back home. I'll let you know how the Lu'au was. Aloha!
